The Center of Maritime Technologies (CMT) is a membership-based non-profit organisation based in Hamburg, Germany. The organisation has about 85 members from industry (shipping, shipbuilding, ship equipment, classification societies and service providers), academia and research centres. The task of the association is to foster research, development and innovation in the maritime sector in Germany and Europe. CMT is actively involved in coordinating and networking of the European maritime community as member of the SEA Europe RDI Group, ECMAR (European Council of Maritime Applied Research), EFFRA (European Factories of the Future Association). The Managing Director of CMT is also member of the Strategic Advisory Board of JPI “Healthy and Productive Oceans”.

Role of CMT in COLUMBUS
Competence Node Leader for Marine Transport and Logistics. Providing support to Competence Nodes for Marine Physical resources and Marine Tourism. Participating across project in Work Packages 2 to 6.
Profile of staff engaged in the project:
Dr Lars Molter is working as Naval Architect in the field of materials, production, design of ship and offshore structures at CMT. During several research and industrial projects, his main focus is on the development and adaptation of joining techniques and materials for lightweight applications. With respect to his background as technical officer in the German Navy, he has more than ten years’ experience on vessels and structures in operation and production.
Meike Neufeld will be the Knowledge Fellow for the Marine Transport and Logistics Competence Node. Meike Neufeld is mainly responsible for information and communication management as well as dissemination activities within different maritime research projects. Before joining CMT, she worked as a project manager for crisis communication, issues and risk management at an internationally-active institution for research and consulting.
